I have watched the available episodes. I heard all the bad things about it too but usually it’s best to see for yourself and make up your own mind. I’m glad I didn’t pay to see the show. It feels like Mindy Kaling wanted to make an animated series about her own character but knew it wouldn’t sell so used scoobydoo as a vehicle.
I have no loyalty to the original show since for me hana-barbera cartoons were just the shows played before the cartoons I really enjoyed. But the characters aren’t even remotely similar to their origins. And not because they race changed a few of them.
I mean Velma is supposed to be intelligent right? In one of the latest episodes she admitted she had a flat earth phase. She eats fries out of the garbage. And that’s really just the tip of the iceberg.
It won’t be out for awhile but a King of the Hill revival was just announced. I’ll definitely give it a go when it’s out. I’ll be disappointed if they recast Kahn (no mention of Toby Huss, the og voice actor, returning)
That’s what happened with the Halo tv show. They wanted to make a show about Kwan Ha but it wouldn’t sell, so they used Halo as a vehicle (jokes on them, the Warthog handles terribly).
I was a Halo guy since the first game and it’s been a quick, sad decline for the franchise since Reach. It’s too bad, the story (ripped from StarCraft, ripped from…) Is a proven formula. How could you screw it up so badly?
The last animated shows I watched were Disenchanted and Exploding Kittens, both on Netflix. I love the absurd humor of both series, so I think I might eventually watch all episodes.
Bluey is what happens when the BBC funds an Aussie animation studio to make a show for kids that’s completely relatable to any parent as well. It is, honestly, one of the best animated shows in the last ten years.
my coworker who is about 10 years older than me watches Bluey as well, so it’s kind of become our thing. I brought Bluey fruit snacks in the other day to celebrate one of her recent wins because of it
